After years of making guitar pickups I've come to the conclusion that most players know exacly what they want. Rather than offer you an array of ever-so-slightly different variations on this classic design I thought it'd be best to let you pick and choose the exact specifications that you need to acheive your perfect sound.
Tapped singlecoils (not to be confused with split humbuckers) have 2 live wires, each offering a different DC resistance output. Attach both these wires to a toggle switch and you'll be able to jump between vintage and vintage-hot tones from your pickup. I allow you to choose the DC resisitance output for both of these settings - I'd recommend around 2kΩ difference between to outputs but you can go for something more subtle or extreme if you like - please keep the total DC resistance value of live 1 + live 2 under 12kΩ
Select your ideal magnet strength, coil insulation, DC resistance output and level of wax-potting.
42-awg coil wire will be used whenever possible. For high DC resistance outpout specifications 43-awg will be used.
When selecting your level of wax-potting consider that a light potting means that the wax is kept away from the centre of the coil which will result in enhanced dynamics whereas a full potting soaks the entire coil with wax which will help prevent unwanted feedback when playing at high volume.
To ensure RWRP bridge pickups will read north up and will be wound anti-clockwise from earth to live. Neck pickups will read south up and be wound clockwise from earth to live. Leave a note if you would like to change any of these details.
